How Tectonic plates are formed.

Picture
Tectonic plates are formed by magma (melted rock). The magma rises up through the continental plate. This causes volcanic eruptions and earthquakes to happen.

Types of Tectonic plates.

Picture
There are three different types of tectonic plates. One type of plate is the plate that pulls apart from each other which is called a divergent plate. Another one is when the plates side wipe each other which is called conservative plate. Also one that collides and slips over each other. The last one is called a convergent plate.

Effects on Land and people.

Picture
One terrible thing is that the tectonic plates can cause volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. When the crust breaks. Another terrible thing is that the colllision of continental plates cause the crust to fold and crumples into high mountain belts that can change global weather and produce giant landslides. Did you know that Mount Everest was made by convergent tectonic plates.
